Develop high value sustainable and regenerative design strategies for our clients and create great places for people and nature
Work in a truly flexible environment with an incredibly supportive team environment where collaboration and innovation are encouraged

Are you an experienced sustainability professional looking to influence projects from the earliest design stages, rather than simply assess compliance?

Atelier Ten is seeking a Senior Environmental Designer (ESD Consultant) to join its Sydney team for a 12-month fixed-term arrangement.

You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers and project teams to integrate sustainability principles across building, precinct and infrastructure projects, while working with environmental design specialists across Australia and the wider global business.

What you’ll do

Manage client relationships, work plans, budgets and junior team contributions
Shape sustainability strategies and facilitate design workshops
Scope and oversee daylight, energy and thermal comfort analysis
Support projects through Green Star, WELL, NABERS, Living Building Challenge and other certification frameworks
Mentor team members and help build local technical capability
Contribute to proposals, client engagement and industry thought leadership

What you’ll bring

A degree in engineering, architecture, building science or a related discipline
At least 8 years of professional ESD experience, including five or more years managing projects
Australian sustainability consulting experience
Experience leading projects to successful Green Star ratings
Strong technical, project management and stakeholder communication skills
Appropriate Australian working rights

Experience with tools or credentials such as Green Star, LEED, WELL, ILFI, NABERS, Passivhaus, Ladybug Tools or IES VE will be highly regarded.

Why join Atelier Ten?

You’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with leading sustainability practitioners and contribute ideas that genuinely shape the design process. The role offers flexible working, international exposure, extensive development opportunities and a pathway toward becoming an Associate.

If you’re design-focused, technically strong and ready to help shape a more sustainable built environment, we’d love to hear from you.
